Gregor Torsten Schade, also known as Gregor Torsten Schade-Adelsberg, was a German artist born in 1948 in Hildburghausen/Thuringia. He spent his childhood in Streufdorf but was forced to resettle to Leipzig in 1954. Schade apprenticed as an offset retoucher from 1965-67 while attending the Evening Academy of the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) Leipzig. He then studied at the HGB Leipzig from 1967-72 with Fritz Fröhlich, Hans Mayer-Foreyt, and Gerhard Brose. After his studies, he became a freelance artist and moved to Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) in 1974. In 1976, he co-founded the artists' group "Clara Mosch" and in 1980, he married Vera-H. Kozik and changed his name. Schade was a member of the Association of Visual Artists (VBK) of the GDR. He moved to Kirchbach in 1987 and undertook study trips to Bulgaria, Paris, FRG, Baghdad, South Africa, New York, and Venezuela.
